Crazy Hiker Mom
I took Julian and Bugs on a hike at Fremont Older Open Space two weeks ago during one of our rare sunny AND warm mornings.
I was kind of frazzled that morning trying to get everyone out the door, and I ended up forgetting Bugs' leash on the kitchen counter, which I didn't realize until I was already at the trailhead and both Boy and his Dog were losing their minds with excitement at the prospect of a Hike Right Now.
Being the Resourceful Woman that I am (or maybe just because I fortuitously had a lot of excess crap in the trunk of my car), I used a roll of kite string as a leash.
With boy on my back, daypack on my front, dog on a string, and two very large sun hats...we set out.
I had to take this photo to capture the moment. Apparently I am not at all afraid of looking ridiculous. But it was a great hike...clear blue skies, bright green new grass, fluffy clouds, sparkling clear views.
