"The entire community is now a toxic waste dump"
Salon.com News | "The entire community is now a toxic waste dump": "The Gulf Coast is drowning in a poisonous stew, people are dying from waterborne bacteria, and federal funds have been drained by years of pro-industry policies. Katrina is one of the worst environmental catastrophes in U.S. history."
All the out-of-control industrial dumping and pollution in that area over the years, combined with flooding (which was mostly caused by the widescale devasation and degradation of coastal wetlands) has created a vile, toxic soup that we can't even begin to imagine, much less clean up. And there's no money left in Superfund to do so anyways, because it's been gutted.
Thanks George Bush, and your greedy Republican cronies too. I really hope there is a hell, so you can all slowly roast in it for eternity. The lone spot of hope in this unbelievable tragedy is that maybe, just MAYBE more people will start waking up and realize just how dangerous this administration really is to us all.
