Once you start sleeping with your baby...
For the past two nights Julian has slept all the way through the night without waking up and crying. Un-freakin-believable.
I feel really good about having slept with him all this time, because I think it has made him feel comfy and secure and cared for in his own bed, and not like he was just abandoned there alone. But apparently now it's OK to let him sleep on his own. He seems to be just fine with it. So to the people who carp that if sleep with your kid they'll be there in bed with you forever...suck it! I've got a happy, well-adjusted boy who can go either way.
I left his door and my door open so that he can come and get me whenever he needs me. He didn't quite figure that out this morning. I heard him quietly whimpering around 6:45am and woke up. When I came to get him he was standing in front of the office door. He thought I was in there with the door shut.
As soon as he saw me he was all smiles and said "BOCK! BOCK!" and gave me the hand sign for milk about 352,849 times in a row. Apart from REALLY being ready for some milk, he was doing just great. I even saw that he had been playing and reading some of his books. So who says you need a crib? My boy has done just great without one.
The best parts about going back to my own bed:
1) Pillow talk with Dan before going to sleep
2) Reading before going to sleep
3) Pillow-top mattress (ahhhh)
The worst parts:
1) Missing sweet baby snuggling
2) Missing waking up to sweet baby smiles
But I still get the smiles and snuggles all the rest of the day, and we have a make-up session every morning before breakfast.
